  Here's a question.....

  ......for those of you who have family that still speaks to you on occasion, does it seem that they are always trying to update you on goings-on in the congregation?

  my grandma, every time she calls (which isn't often), likes to say "brother or sister so-and-so were asking about you the other day".

  or "brother so-and-so got disfellowshipped".

  Yeah I had the whole dishing the gossip in the hope i'll be so interested i'll start going back to meetings again bit too.

  The thing that always made me laugh about my mum, bless her still going and giving the gossip though not to such an extent these days, was that when i was going and we attended the memorial she always used to start slating those who weren't exactly actively attending and sometimes on came for the memorial - she'd say that once a year was not enough to be saved blah blah blah. Then as soon as i left she started pleading with me to just attend the memorial, one little meeting - she stopped asking me after i turned round to her and recited what she used to say about people only going of the memorial.

  Why do churches still make me panic ?

  i'm really glad i've found this site a week ago.

  reading some of the stories and comments on here has really helped.

  there are so many out there who's lives have been ruined by the so-called truth.. i was brought up in the truth as an elders daughter, youngest of 5, a brother and sister had been disfellowshiped, other brother had left as a teenager and my other sister is still sitting on the fence aged 40 going on 15, if she'd made a decision instead of sitting on the fence i'm convinced she wouldn't be the alcoholic mess she is today!

  i'm really glad i've found this site a week ago.

  Getting stood up or given the silent treatment is humiliating enough, let alone on a really good party night.

  If he's still a boyfriend he definitely doesn't deserve you ! Bastards !

  Unless he's got a really really really good excuse, find yourself someone who really cares about you - a decent man would never not call or show up !

  I only had the guts to Google on Jehovah's Witnesses a couple of weeks ago. I'd been told there were books written by ex-witnesses in the past but didn't feel ready to start delving into them - guess I was afraid of what i'd find out and that it would bring all the bad memories back again.

  I'd left the godsquad fourteen years ago on Boxing Day just gone, fortunately one of my friends took me under her wing and even though i was still living at home for the following two years she was my rock. That said, if i'd been able to talk to you guys back then i would have done it sooner and have had the ammunition and strength to keep them at bay instead of having my parents send people up to my room to try and reel me back in !

  One book that really helped me was "The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse'......you would think it was written by people that were JW's, but it isn't.

  (Been out of PC action for a couple of days)

  Codeblue, can you remember who wrote the above book? I want to go shopping this week and purchase?

  I've already ordered Crisis of Conscience but it's going to take 3 weeks to get here !

  18 movie stars died this year that I liked.

  i hate to see so many of the movie stars that i sort of grew up with dieing now.

  it reminds me that i'm next and i like living too much to die now.

  i just can't feel comfortable with that idea.

  I always thought it was "MILLIONS NOW LIVING WILL NEVER DIET"

  I just presumed it was all to do with those people on Jerry Springer who eat a couple of bargain buckets of KFC for breakfast and supper and a few in between.

  Sheesh, I'm going to have to go back to the meetings and pay attention this time.

  First of all - yay i've actually worked out how to do this quoting thingy !!!

  Secondly, Simon you nearly made me fall of my chair - or should that be fomcl???

  I'm glad i wasn't the only one who daydreamed my way through the meetings !
